Older'n dirt we are. I'm still not used to hearing Van Halen on the oldies stations, let alone Greenday. Things I remember from Basic, nine zillion years ago: New Coke, Rambo was in the theaters, one guy in our unit had joined because he wanted to go airborne just to get parachute pants.

How long were you in? I went through basic in Leonard Wood, MO in 1985, which makes me officially older 'n dirt.
