- Retired USAF CMSgt originally from Pittsburgh, PA. Diehard Steelers fan; I bleed black and gold. Crypto specialist in the AF but also cross trained on most tactical HF/VHF/UHF/SHF radios, field expedient antennas, etc.. Spent most of my career in special operations at places like Ft. Bragg and Hurlburt Field. Airborne, Air Assault, and military diver. Had the opportunity to visit Central America, Beirut, Grenada, Saudi/Kuwait/Iraq (Gulf War I), Haiti, and a bunch of other places. Retired after 22 years to accept SES position as Director of the Secretary of Defense Communications Office. Did that for 4 years, averaged almost 300 days a year on the road traveling with the SecDef (Bill Perry and then Bill Cohen). Left the Pentagon to enter the business world. Had some success doing that and retired from the workforce at age 50. My wife is a Schaller girl and she followed me around the world so when we retired it was my turn to follow her. We live in Le Mars, Iowa and I love it here, nicest people in the world. We have two grown daughters, one married to an OH-58 crew chief in the 10th Mountain at Ft Drum, NY and the other married to a farmer in Whiting IA. Between them they've given us 5 grand kids. We also have a 16 year old son, Jim Jr, who recently completed the motorcycle safety course and is now riding his mom's old (2000) Sportster. She rides her 2003 Wide Glide. I ride my custom chopper built by a great bunch of guys at Pitbull in Orlando, Florida. We have a 43' toy hauler 5th-wheel RV and we like to spend most of the summer on the road, seeing the country, and finding new places to ride. The ALR is a GREAT group of people and I enjoy riding with them and pulling PGR missions.
